Motor Neurone Disease is a progressive neurological condition that affects the nerves controlling movement. As the condition develops, people may experience increasing difficulty with mobility, personal care, speech, swallowing, breathing and everyday activities.
Every person’s journey is different. Some people may initially require only a short daily visit for washing, dressing or morning support, while others may need more comprehensive care as their needs change.
This information is for general guidance only and is not a substitute for medical advice. If you are concerned about symptoms, please speak to a GP or healthcare professional.

Flexible Care as Needs Change
Many families initially arrange a single morning visit to help with washing, dressing or preparing for the day.
As needs evolve, support can be increased to include multiple daily visits, longer care calls, overnight support, additional personal care, family respite and coordination with healthcare professionals. At Good Companions, we provide experienced, person-centred personal care and daily living support for individuals living with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and other complex neurological conditions. Our carers are trained to support people whose needs may change over time, helping them remain safe, comfortable and as independent as possible within their own homes. Good Companions is registered with the Care Quality Commission for the regulated activity of Personal Care. We do not provide clinical nursing services. Where specialist nursing or clinical interventions form part of an individual's care needs, we work closely alongside NHS District Nursing teams, local GPs, therapists and other healthcare professionals to ensure that care is coordinated safely and effectively. This collaborative approach enables individuals to benefit from compassionate personal care and practical support at home, whilst any clinical or nursing interventions remain under the appropriate medical or nursing supervision.
Supporting Families Too
A diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease affects the whole family. Relatives may be balancing work, caring responsibilities and concern for the future.
Our team works closely with families and representatives to help reduce stress, provide practical assistance and ensure care is delivered in accordance with individual wishes and preferences.
Regulated Home Care Services
Good Companions Care at Home Agency is registered with the Care Quality Commission for the regulated activity of Personal Care.
All care begins with an individual assessment to ensure support is safe, appropriate and tailored to each person’s circumstances.
